The print is based on watercolour plein air studies spent along the tracks around Bwlch Nant-Yr-Arian in the summer evenings. From the top of the valley the view overlooks Aberystwyth nestled within Cardigan Bay, with the Pembrokeshire coastline faintly appearing in the distance.
The painting aims to capture the rich colours of the summer evening’s sunset, where the hillsides glow in warm colours, and the full blooms of heather and bilberry cloak the valley in rich colours of purples and greens.
